The course contains sixteen brief eLearning modules. Topics include: an overview module of many the new features, a module on upgrading an existing VMware Infrastructure to ESX Server 3.5 and VirtualCenter 2.5, and several guided demonstrations on how to operate three of the key new features: Storage VMotion, VMware Update Manager, and Guided Consolidation. VMware Workstation: Mastery [V6.0]:This online self-paced course helps users master VMware Workstation 6. Although the course focuses on Workstation for Windows hosts, most of its content is also applicable to Workstation for Linux hosts. The course is divided into four tracks: General (getting started with Workstation), Networking, Snapshots, and Teams. The General track includes modules that demonstrate and explain how to install Workstation, build a virtual machine, and install a guest operating system and VMware Tools. The section also contains training on how to work with USB devices and manage virtual disks. The Networking modules will explain the theory and architecture of virtual networks in VMware Workstation. They will also show you how to configure and manipulate networks and settings, and walk you through a specific examples of setting up a complex networking configuration, a DMZ. The Snapshot modules will show you how and why to use virtual machine snapshots, linear chains, and process trees, and will walk you through using snapshots with linked clones and virtual machine teams. The Teams modules will demonstrate how to create and manage virtual machine teams. They will also introduce the concepts of cloning virtual machines, how to add clones to a virtual machine team, and how to simulate low bandwidth environments. Various teaching modules are supported by printable job aids, as well as interactive quizzes and simulations to reinforce the procedures that have been demonstrated.
