VMware Certified Professional
The VMware Certified Professional Program is designed for individuals who want to demonstrate their expertise in virtual infrastructure and increase the potential for career advancement.
The high standards expected of a VCP means it’s one of the most sought after certifications in the industry. Become a VCP to:
- Demonstrate your VMware software technical expertise to your customers
- Increase customer confidence levels
- Display the VMware Certified Professional logo on your business card or website
The following are the paths to the VCP certification:

Please note that participation in a VMware authorized training class is REQUIRED for VCP certification. Candidates who take the VCP exam without an authorized class will NOT be certified or confirmed by VMware.
Candidates who have attended “Virtual Infrastructure for ESX 2.x” but did not become VCP certified are required to take Path 1, 2, or 3 in order to become a VMware Certified Professional.
If you are not currently a VMware Certified Professional, one of the following three courses is required:

Once you have completed the course requirement, you are eligible to sit for the certification exam. The exam objectives are outlined in the VCP Exam Blueprint.
To help prepare for the test, you can attend a VMware Certified Professional Exam Preparation Workshop. (This course is not a substitute for the VMware authorized course requirement.)
