Overview:
The VMware Cloud Fundamentals course will provide you with a fundamental understanding of VMware’s Cloud products, including the business challenges those products are intended to solve.

There are three modules in this course. In module 1, we will define the types of Cloud computing and discuss the challenges associated with them.

In module 2, we will describe VMware’s Cloud products, features, and components.

Finally, in module 3 we wrap things up by helping you relate the products, features, and components to the challenges they are intended to resolve.

Objectives:   At the end of this course, you should be able to:

•  Define the types of Cloud computing and discuss the challenges associated with them.
•  Describe VMware’s Cloud products, features, and components.
•  Align VMware products, features, and components to the Elasticity, Efficiency, Availability, and Management challenges of a business.
 
Outline:   Module 1: Introduction to VMware Cloud
Timing: 40 minutes

Module 1 is an Introduction to the VMware Cloud.

In this module we will define the types of cloud computing, and provide examples of the business and technical challenges.

At the end of this module, you should be able to:
•  Define the types of Cloud computing
•  Discuss the challenges that VMware Cloud products are intended to resolve


Module 2: VMware’s cloud products, features and components.
Timing: 100 minutes

Module 2 covers VMware’s cloud products, features, and components.

At the end of this module, you should be able to:
•  Define the components of the Software-Defined Enterprise
•  Discover why vSphere is the world's leading server virtualization platform
•  Describe the components of NSX
•  Evaluate how vCloud Automation Center automates the delivery of IT services
•  Measure how vCenter Operations Manager provides comprehensive visibility and insights into the performance, capacity and health of your infrastructure
•  Describe the function of IT Business Management
•  Determine the function of vCenter Hyperic
•  Discuss how VMware vFabric Suite is a lightweight, scalable and integrated middleware suite for data-intensive custom applications
•  Discover how VMware vCloud Connector links your internal private Cloud with public Clouds, so you can manage them as a single hybrid environment
•  Examine how VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager provides automated orchestration and non-disruptive testing for virtualized applications
•  Discuss how VMware vCloud Hybrid Service can quickly and seamlessly extend your data center into the Cloud, using the tools and processes you already have


Module 3: Applying What You've Learned
Timing: 30 minutes

Module 3 is about applying what you have learned.

In this module you will use what you have learned in Module 2 about Cloud Computing and VMware products, features and components to help solve the Elasticity, Efficiency, Availability, and Management challenges faced by the clients that you met in Module 1.

At the end of this module, you will be able to:
•  Reveal the VMware products that will resolve the IT Efficiency challenges.
•  Match the VMware product to the IT Availability challenge.
•  Input the VMware product that will resolve the IT Elasticity challenge.
•  Reveal the VMware product that will help solve IT Elasticity challenges.
•  Match the VMware product to the IT Management challenge.
•  Discover the next steps in your VMware education.
